Straight answers about how this works

If your question isn't here, our team answers email as soon as we can.

Who is eligible for a Roll Model Project sponsorship?
Youth ages 5 to 17 living in San Diego County whose families cannot afford Brazilian jiu-jitsu tuition. We do not require proof of income for a first review — start with the sponsorship application and we will follow up.
Does Roll Model Project pay the family or the gym?
We pay the partner gym directly — full or partial tuition, depending on funding. Families never handle money, and the gym is paid in full for whatever portion we cover.
Is Roll Model Project a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit?
Yes. Roll Model Project is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in San Diego, California. Our EIN is 39-2107815 and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
How does a gym become a Roll Model Project partner?
Submit the partner inquiry form on our Partner Gyms page. We schedule a short call, agree on how many sponsored spots your academy can hold, and start paying tuition for the kids you identify.
What percentage of my donation reaches a kid?
Every donation is directed toward tuition, gear, and tournament fees for sponsored youth. Our board serves as unpaid volunteers.
Can I sponsor a specific child or a specific gym?
Yes. Note the gym or program in your donation message, or contact our team and we will match your gift to a sponsorship in that community.
